Imphal, September 16:
Following an assurance given by the State Police Department, the three civil witnesses including Thangjam Dolendra, younger brother of Manorama have agreed to give their testimonies before the ongoing Army Court of inquiry at Kangla on Saturday.
The three Dolendro, Elangbam Komol and E Brojen were supposed to depose before the Army Court earlier but had refused to testify because of the absence of a responsible officer.
The witnesses lamented that the atmosphere inside the courtroom of the Army Inquiry panel was very unpleasant when Dolendro last testified in August.
As a result, they requested the police chief to depute an officer not below the rank of an SDPO to ensure their security.
The Police Department today assured to depute Imphal West SDPO Gourakishore Singh to accompany them while giving their statement at Kangla, they added.
