International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) organised a discussion session on the topic' Colloquium on Montenegro independence, 2006' at State Guest House, Sanjenthong here today.
Dean of Law Faculty, Gauhati University prof N Sanajaoba and IPSA president H Ibotombi Khuman were respectively special talker and chairman of the discussion session.
Ibotombi said Montenegro is one of the western Balkan nations located in the Mediterranean along the north-western coast of Adriatic ocean which regains independence and sovereignty on May 21, 2006 following a referendum held in the interest of the European Union .
The total geographical area of the nation is only 13.812 square kilometre with a population of 6,30,000.Out of 86.49 percent of voters to exercise their franchise, 55.53 percent voted in favour of the referendum, he said adding that the people of Manipur should discuss how a small country like Montenegro has regains its independence.
