Imphal, October 08:
The All Manipur Anti-Drug Association has indefinitely sealed Tampha Lairembi Pharmacy located near RIMS gynaecology ward for selling drugs with purchased licence.
Speaking to reporters today at the AMADA head office, its executive member K Meghachandra said that the Tampha Lairembi pharmacy was run by one Maibam Jawan of Wangoo but currently staying at Uripok Bhachaspati Leikai with a licence brought from one Jeevan of Heingang at Rs 14,000.This was discovered during monitoring drive launched by AMADA in association with Unemployed Pharmacists Association of Manipur (UPAM) against pharmacies since yesterday.
During inspection drive today at 97 pharmacies located near RIMS gynaecological ward, all the pharmacies except for three were found lacking necessary documents like licence, registration certificates etc.
Meghachandra further asked all these pharmacies to produce the necessary documents either to AMADA or UPAM by October 17 failing which commensurate actions would be initiated against them.
Taking part in the press meet, publicity secretary of UPAM Geetraj noted some of the pharmacies were found run like a grocery shop.
He also cast aspersion on the credibility of licensing authority in view of such unethical running of pharmacies.
