Imphal, August 31 2010:
A number of tree saplings were planted today at Yairipok Changamdabi under convergence programme of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
The tree plantation programme was jointly organised by DRDA Imphal East, Horticulture Department and Changamdabi Gram Panchayat.
As a part of the same programme, Yongchak plants and fruits like orange and lemon were also planted at Sagol Lou Ining Ching.
Imphal East DC M Lakshmikumar, DRDA officials and Pradhan Md Kamaruddin of Changamdabi Gram Panchayat and Members of the same GP attended the programme.
Under the same programme, banana plants would be planted at Ujey paddy fields while Sangai Ching Haorou has been selected from plantation of Wang and teak trees.
Incidentally, there are 986 job card holders in Changamdabi Gram Panchayat.
The Imphal East DC has also inspected the Yambem PHC.
