The Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has appealed to all tribal representatives to be very cautious on any issue brought up in the State Assembly or in any platformwhich is likely to affect the interest of the tribals.
In a statement, ZYF president Titus Kamei said that members of the Hill Areas Committee should be held solely responsible in case any matter is passed in the Assembly against the wishes of the tribal people.
Tribal people believe that their representatives do not consider themselves too powerless or incompetent to fight for the rights and interest of the tribal people, it said.
"The unresponsive nature of the tribal representatives should not be a factor to presume the entire tribal people as insensitive people.
Therefore, any move or decision taken in their presence which may affect the tribal people's constitutional rights, sentiments and interest will not be acceptable but strongly opposed," ZYF said.
Time has come particularly for the tribal people representatives and people to exercise their wisdom in order to save the future of the tribal people, it said.
The best way for the tribal representatives to protect and safeguard the rights and interest of the tribal and to stand in solidarity with their people in case of any serious issue is to express their opinions and views loud and in clear terms in any situation, it added.
