Training programme on Extension Methodology

A two-day training programme on Extension Methodology for Enhancement of Professional Skills of Field Functionaries has been kick started at College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal from today.
CAU's Directorate of Extension Education organised the opening function of the programme at the conference hall of College of Agriculture.
CAU Director of Research Dr M Rohinikumar, Extension Education Director Dr S Premjit, Director of Instruction, Dr Sarbjit Singh Nagra and College of Agriculture Dean Dr GS Laishram attended the opening function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Dr M Rohinikumar said that technology advancement has been giving many advantages to the people.
He also stressed on the need to delve into the chosen field before imparting training to farmers.
Dr S Premjit said that imparting thorough knowledge to field functionaries is the main objective of organising the training programme.
Expressing hope that the programme would benefit the field functionaries, he also mentioned about the importance of understanding the changing climatic condition of Manipur.
Dr SS Nagra opined that mode of agriculture must be changed with the changing situation and time.
Saying that agriculture land is decreasing day by day in Manipur Dr SS Nagra said that proper training must be imparted to cope up with this situation.
In his speech, Dr GS Laishram mentioned the difference between profession and occupation.
Maintaining that many people have started giving farming as agriculture is not a lucrative occupation, Dr GS Laishram said that there is need for putting in collective effort to make agriculture a profit earning occupation.
