Oil depot shut at Jiri

The only Oil Depot which is supplying POL/HSD at Jiribam and its surrounding areas has been shut down due to drivers Union at Silchar freezing the supply of POL at this Depot.
Supply of POL to the depot was blocked after oil meant for the depot was found adulterated few days back.
An oil tanker bearing registration No AS 05-A 9493 driven by Md Kajol Laskar (29) s/o Rakhamat Ali Laskar of Madripur Banskandi Pt II Cachar Assam along with the handyman carrying 20 KL of HSD in 4 chambers for M/S Hrangsing Lienzathang & Sons, Jiribam with an invoice from IOC Ltd stock depot Ramnagar, Silchar was checked at Silchar few days back.
While checking of the consignment, the first chamber having 5000 ltrs capacity was found adultrated with water.
On enquiry the driver the handyman stated that they had sold out 2000 ltrs of HSD at Silchar area and filled the gap with water etc.
The sample was tested at CHC Jiribam in the presence of police.
Further during the time of arrival at Jiribam, the driver was found having some traces of bandage on his chest reportedly sustained from vehicular accident.
Then the matter was brought to the notice of the vehicle owner and other authorities of IOC etc.
Investigation on the matter is going on.
Commuters plying in and around Jiribam have been facing problems due to the closure of the depot.
As a result, the number of vehicles in the area is visibly reduced.
