Five underground cadres arrested

Imphal, February 19 2015: Based on a reliable information, a combined team of Bishnupur district police commando and 12 Bihar Regiment conducted a search operation at Nambol Bazar area on Feb 16 and arrested one active member of PREPAK (Pro) namely, Keisham Binodkumar Meitei alias Bimol alias Imo alias Nongdamba (31) s/o K Rajendro Meitei of Keibi Heikak Mapal Awang Leikai.

In a follow up action, another active member of PREPAK (Pro) namely, Okram Sanatomba Meitei alias Peba alias Nganba (23) S/o O Ibomcha Meitei of Keibi Heikak Mapal Awang Leikai was also arrested, according to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Department.

A case has been registered at Nambol police station and investigation is going on.

On Feb 17, based on a reliable information regarding the presence of some active members of KCP in and around Kwakeithel Akham Leikai area, a team of Imphal West district police commando conducted cordon and search in the area and arrested one active member of KCP namely, Khomdram Birjit Singh alias Momo alias Ibungo (33) s/o Kh Biramangol Singh of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai.

Incriminating articles were seized from his possession, the police PRO statement said.

A follow up action launched by Imphal West district police commando and women police resulted in the arrest of another active member of KCP, namely, Soibam (O) Rita Devi (46) w/o (L) S Joychandra Singh of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai.

She was arrested from her residence.

Incriminating articles were seized from her possession, it said.

A case has been registered at Lamphel police station and investigation is going on.

On Feb 18, based on a reliable information regarding the presence of some active members of UNLF in and around Naoremthong Laishram Leirak, Imphal West district police commando conducted cordon and search operation at the area and arrested one active member of UNLF namely Laishram Langlenkhomba alias Dayal alias Eyamba (49) s/o L Biramangol Singh of Naoremthong Laishram Leirak.

Investigation revealed that he along with two associates had hurled grenades at some restaurants on Tiddim road and Uripok Laikhulembi, the statement said.

A case has been registered at Lamphel police station and investigation is going on.
