Farmers Leadership Training Programme organised

All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) organised a day-long farmers leadership training programme at its office today.
Deputy Director of Agriculture Department, G Samu Kabui, AMPFA president Joy Nongmaithem, Deputy Director Soil Chemist of Agriculture Department, Ph Rajendra and Man League Manipur president Nongleima Haobam Ongbi were the chief guest, president and guests of honour of the function respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Ph Rajendra stressed on the need to improve production by educating and imparting modern farming to the farmers.
He added that the State is still relying on other States for food stuff.
It is only because of lack of work culture and using of agricultural land for other developmental activities.
Th Tomba while speaking in the function expressed concern over using of too much fertilizers for enhancing production.
The farmers must adopt new techniques and scientific ways of farming to avoid relying on chemical fertilizers.
He said that SRI method has become an easy way to enhance rice production in the State.
