Farmers training programme held

Imphal, April 17 2011:
Over 130 farmers from different parts of the state took part in a one-day farmers' leadership training programme organized by the All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) at its office at Keishampat Junction under the initiative of the Agriculture Department.
G Shamu Kabui, deputy director (planning) of the Agriculture Department graced the opening function of the training programme which was presided over by Joy Nongmaithem, president of the AMPFA.
Ph Rajendro, deputy director (soil chemistry) agriculture department and Nongleima Haobam, president of Men League Manipur attended as guests of honour.
Co-convener Thoiba Konthoujam of AMPFA, in his key note address, said that the training programme has been organized with the objective of imparting training to the farmers on the latest technical know-how of cultivation so that they can enhance their field products.
The training programme further aims at imparting knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) of the Agriculture Department (Soil Chemist) to the farmers.
The method has been successfully applying by farmers of the Model Seed Villages set up by the department across the state.
