Two rescued

Imphal, July 06 2026:
Two Zeliangrong Naga civilians, both working with the PHC Noney ambulance service have been safely rescued after they were abducted by some Kukis.
Following the firing incident at Thingkhongjang village under Kangchup Geljang sub-division of Kangpokpi district on Sunday, the two Zeliangrong men were detained by some Kukis at Sinam Kuki village, sources said.
After intervention by CRPF, they were granted clearance to proceed.
However, they were captured again by Kukis at Sejang Kuki village.
During the second abduction, one of the civilians seized an opportunity to escape.
He was later traced and rescued as confirmed by the RNYO president, his team of volunteers and Pongringlong Rongmei Naga village volunteers.
The second civilian remained in Kuki custody for several hours.
CRPF intervened again and brought him to safety at around 11.53 pm, said the sources.
Notably, unidentified persons attacked Thingkhongjang Kuki village, located close to Sejang Kuki village yesterday and torched one house.
One woman and a girl sustained injuries in the attack and they were brought to RIMS for treatment.
