Imphal, July 06 2026:
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that the ongoing conflict in Manipur stems from a deep trust deficit among Meitei, Kuki and Naga communities.
Stressing that a lasting solution must come through dialogue among the communities themselves, Himanta Biswa has asserted that the conflict cannot be resolved through administrative measures alone.
Speaking during the Indian Express Idea Exchange, the Assam Chief Minister remarked that the crisis is neither a conventional insurgency nor a dispute with the Government as there is no specific charter of demands before the Centre.
While the Government can maintain law and order through security forces, it cannot compel reconciliation, Himanta Biswa added.
