CM extends monetary aid to chronically ill IDPs

Imphal, July 06 2026:
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh handed over financial assistance of Rs one lakh each for medical treatment to 26 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing at the Lamboikhongnangkhong Relief Camp, Imphal who are suffering from chronic diseases such as kidney ailments, cancer etc.
Khemchand gave the financial assistance at a programme held at the Manipur Trade Expo Centre Relief Camp, Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West today.
The Chief Minister stated that the Government is providing financial assistance to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to enable them find some relief during the difficult times.

Special financial support is being provided to IDPs suffering from chronic diseases, he added.
He further stated that today's disbursement of financial assistance is not the end of the Government's support to IDPs and assured that every possible assistance will be extended to IDPs suffering from chronic diseases in future.
The CM stressed that the decision to extend financial assistance was taken with the belief that it would help ease the hardships faced by the IDPs, who are already enduring the pain of staying away from their homes.
It is unfortunate that people are unable to live in their own homes.
The prevailing situation has compelled many to endure the hardship of staying away from their homes, he said.
Newly elected Rajya Sabha member Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi stated that weaving machines and support for other allied livelihood activities would be provided to women IDPs of the camp.
The programme was also attended by MLA Sanasam Premchandra Singh, Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, DC Imphal West, IDPs and Government officials, among others, according to a press release issued by the CM Secretariat.
