11 abducted persons still held in abductors' custody

Eleven people who had been abducted by suspected insurgents of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) from Amchurmukh, near Rajivnagar in Mamit district of Mizoram last Friday are still held incommunicado by their abductors.
Police sources in Aizawl said that NLFT militants Friday evening abducted 16 construction workers from Rajivnagar village along Tripura-Mizoram border.
Later, the rebels released five people.
The kidnappers are expected to communicate to the driver, yet no communication has been made till Monday evening, police sources added.
The kidnappers are believed to have already entered Bangladesh with the captives at the time of filing this report.
According to Mizoram police, the 11 abductees belonging to Karimganj district of Assam were working at the construction site of RMSA school at West Phulpuia near Phuldungsei in Mamit district.
They were returning to their work place after spending Puja vacation at their villages when the incident occurred.
The kidnappers abducted them between Rajivnagar and Zozampui on Friday around 9.30 pm after intercepting the vehicle on which some new labourers had travelled.
10 of the kidnappers were reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, while two others were without arms, police said.
Initially, the militant kidnapped 15 people.
Later, the rebel released 4 of them after they were identified to be Chakmas, Mizoram police source said.
On learning the incident, Mamit Addl SP Lalchunglura and other police officers along with police team armed with sophisticated weapons rushed to the spot.
Although the police force launched an intensive rescue operation, the kidnappers had already reached Zopui in Bangladesh when they reached the place of incident.
