Tamenglong, January 05 2019: Reacting to the accusation of BJP, Tamei Mandal against NPF in local newspaper today, K Liangpibou, member Autonomous District Council (ADC), Tamenglong said that NPF is not afraid of BJP in the forthcoming by-election of Chaton-II DCC while adding that it is good to honour each other as coalition partners.

A statement issued by K Liangpibou, member ADC, Tamenglong reminded that BJP did not get the mandate of people to form Govt in the 2017 State Assembly election but it came to power with the help of Nagas Peoples Front (NPF) which supported them unconditionally without seeking any monetary or portfolio bargaining in the interest of maintaining peace and progress in the State and alleged that BJP, a week after the formation of State Govt, betrayed NPF by openly declaring the severing of ties with the NPF Tamenglong ADC.

It said that the Democratic Alliance of Tamenglong (DAT) was formed in coalition with BJP which had 5 ADC members from BJP and 10 ADC members from NPF and added that BJP was given a lion's share of 5 Cabinet post in the coalition having 3 executive members, the vice-chairman post and chairman of finance committee.

The press statement further said that BJP accusing NPF in local newspapers on January 5 has opened the Pandora Box which BJP will regret and added that NPF has been restraining itself from making any negative remarks against BJP, as BJP is an alliance party in the State Govt and NPF is truthful to their words and obligations as a committed political party.

Stating that NPF is compelled to give this statement by the allegation of BJP, the statement clarified that the remark of the president NPF Manipur State Unit (MSU) was to point out that it is an ethics of political alliance partners to honour any elected members ((L) Tuntanbou Guangta), who passed away before the completion of his term, by supporting the candidature of the party (his son CPL Guangta for Chaton II DCC) to which the deceased member belongs.

The statement further said that the state unit president did not make any accusations on BJP earlier inspite of many dissatisfactions/grievances and hollow promises made by the BJP.

However, the situation has forced NPF, at the grass-root level, to demand the withdrawal of the NPF support to the BJP led Govt if BJP continues to ignore the contribution made by the NPF at all level in the state, it added.
