Modi dedicates 400kv Silchar-Imphal transmission line to Nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 400kV Double Circuit Silchar-Imphal transmission line constructed by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
(POWERGRID) on January 4 in the presence of Chief Minister N Biren, Manipur Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand and other dignitaries from the State and Centre.
Prime Minister stated that the line would remove the problem of power cuts of Manipur and that the State is on the path of progress.
This project is the first 400kV power infrastructure in Manipur and is of high importance for the NE region and Manipur.
This project will cater to long-term power requirement of the State of Manipur and shall improve voltage profile in the State.
The State would now also be able to draw its share of power from Pallatana and Bongaigaon generation projects.
The 334 circuit kilometre long 400kV Double Circuit (D/C) Silchar-Imphal transmission line project has been constructed with a total cost of about Rs 749 crore.
The line was initially charged at 132kV voltage level and subsequently energized to 400kV voltage level in December 2018 .
POWERGRID is represented by Seema Gupta, Director (Operations), Anil Jain, Executive Director (Corporate Planning), B Anantha Sarma, Chief General Manager (Incharge) of North Eastern Region, Anoop Kumar, Chief General Manager of NERPSIP and other senior officials.
