1st Mega trade fair begins in Tamenglong

With an aim to promote the trades and encourage the entrepreneur to take up trade as business in Tamenglong region, the Kevi Society Kohima on Thursday formally kick of 1st Mega trade fair at the newly constructed Indoor Stadium Tamenglong District HQs.
The opening ceremony was graced by Lakshmikanta Sharma, Adll.
Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong as chief guest and red ribbon was cut in the presence of SP.
Athui, Chairman, Zeliangrong Union, Pastor Guiphanang, Town Centre Church (TCC) Tamenglong and Thomas Chawang, Convener of Kevi Society Kohima.
Just after the opening of the Mega trade fair, local people rushed in started buying the items.
On the side of the launching of the trade fair, Thomas Chawang, Convener of Kevi Society Kohima stated that Kevi Society was formed in 2010 by educated unemployed Naga Youth.
Since then the society had organising mega trade fair to promote the trades and encourage the entrepreneurs to take up trade as business in the region.
As many as 20 stalls, coming from different states like Assam, Nagaland, Punjab, Delhi, etc have started selling their products today.
Some teams are yet to arrive, Thomas Chawang stated.
Some of the items found in the stalls include Bangladesh Melamine, toys, gift items, kitchen kits, health fitness products, unbreakable plastics items, Bangkok ladies footwear, Hydrabad pearls, herbal medicines, etc.
To the query, Thomas Chawang stated the society has invested nearly 280 lakhs.
The event in Tamenglong is going to be great loss for the society as some teams are yet to arrive due to Durga Puja festival and the transportation and setting up materials are too costly.
The mega trade fair will continue till 15 October 2014. He also appealed the people of this district to avail opportunity where the items may not find in the market.
