A 100-year old man AC Mahaphang walked out from his home leaving behind all his aging difficulties to attend the celebration of International day for old persons at Ukhrul town hall, and spread a symbolic message of how one can grow old gracefully.
The centenarian from Khangkhui Phungthar village was encouraged by a nonagenarian woman YR Phanitla (93) from Hunphun village, as both were the oldest among the aging men and women respectively to grace the International day for old persons.
More than 1000 senior citizens turned up for the event and accorded with gifts and feast at Ukhrul town hall.
It's a memorable day for most of the 60-plus persons as they could catch up with time to shake hands, hug each other and recall memories of the yesteryears.
Some of the olds met their long departed friends ever since 30 years.
