Drama festival begins

The 27th All Manipur Drama Festival, 2011, which would go on till May 12, has begun from today at MDU Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane.
The inaugural function of the festival was attended by Lok Sabha MP Dr Th Meinya Singh as chief guest and Commissioner of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur Dr RK Nimai Singh as president.
Being organised under the aegis of Manipur State Kala Akademi, in all 17 stage plays would be showcased in the festival and there would also be discussion sessions after every shows.
The festival opened with Hanglai of Panthoibi Natya Mandir today.
Tomorrow, Lamja Pasuram of Elite Group of Performing Artistes would be staged.
Other plays in the festival are Antigone of Theatre Mirror (April 28), Tangaiphadana Loukhibani of Rupmahal Theatre (April 29),Echelgi Maran Leitei of Royal Theatrical Club (April 30), Echasha Ipa Lamboirage of Cosmopolitan Dram Union (May 1), Imagi Mani of Manipur Artiste Touring Drama Party (May 2), Ashalatagi Hakchang of Banian Repertory Theatre (May 3), Kanana Khuntak-Hankhi of Apunba Saktam Artistes' Association (May 4), Shari Washak of People's Aritstes and Dramatic Association (May 5), Mei Amasung Nong of Khoriphaba Artistes' Association (May 6), Khamba-Khamnu of NT Theatre (May 7), Angangba Kabirei of Paradise Theatre on May 8, etc.
