Imphal, May 17:
In May 2006, a team of 13 newsmen based in Manipur and other parts of India journeyed along the remote Khengjoi Hill Range of insurgency-torn Manipur's Chandel district bordering Myanmar.
Told by Sagolsem Hemanta, Editor of a monthly journal published from Imphal, this book captures at first hand, memorable scenes from the daily lives of insurgents and poverty-stricken natives who dwell along the hill range.
''The natives cast their votes whenever local government elections take place, but the government never gave them succour.
They do not even know whom they have elected.'' The original book in Manipuri 'khengjoi Chingshangda' hit the stands within four months of the journey and became an instant bestseller in Manipur.
Upon their return, CNN-IBN journalists also broadcast in October 2006 a report on the journey and an interview of the rebel leader.
Now, the English edition "Far Beyond In Khengjoi Hill Range" is going to be released very soon.
