Churachandpur, June 15 2021:
Fish farmer unions of Churachandpur has vehemently protested the transfer of its District Fishery Officer and called for annulment of the order stating that his dedicated efforts to transform the department and help the farmer community of the district was just on the brink of fulfilment and should not be ruined.
Jenishing Tarao was reportedly transferred to Chandel District by the government, but local fish farmers including Khuga Dam Development Authority, Khuga Dam Reservoir Cage Culture Committee and Churachandpur District Fish Farmers' Union have voiced their protest before the Fishery Minister, Rajen Singh, and also to the district in-charge Minister, V Valte.
The fishing communities have seen immense transformation since Jenishing Tarao was posted as the DFO Churachandpur sometime last year.
His dedication and sincere efforts to help the community has renewed their enthusiasm and the way fish farming was perceived in the district, the protesters claimed.
With the initiative of the DFO many were in queue to dig fish ponds while several others were waiting for their cage culture to take shape.
There is also a centrally sponsored scheme - "Integrated Development of Khuga Reservoir" which Jenishing Tarao has proposed and was approved by the Central Government but is yet to take shape.
The transfer of the DFO amidst all these projects that are critical to the upliftment of the local fish farmers would do more harm than good at this critical juncture, said the fish farmers.
It will therefore be prudent on the part of the government to annul the transfer and allow him to help them at least for some more time till the schemes and projects that are critical to the farmers take shape.
