Imphal, March 30 2011:
Peeved with the last minute announcement of excluding their names from the ongoing High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination conducted by BoSEM, 31 students of Worrin High School, Lunghar drew attention of the concerned authority and student bodies in this regard.
According to a press release signed by the 31 students of Northern Tangkhul Naga Baptist Association (NTNBA) Worrin High School, it was due to the gross negligence of the Principal of the school, LW Vareiso, they were on the verge of losing a year giving great discouragement to their educational career.
The press release said, all the students deposited Rs 1200 each and filled up all the necessary documents to appear in the HSLC examination 2011 on December 16, 2010 .
After a couple of weeks, the Principal assured the students that although it was already late according to the deadline of BoSEM, he would make it possible to appear in the examination.
The students made preparations for the said examination with the hope that they would appear in the examination.
However, to their dismay, the Principal refunded the amount of form fill-up to the students instead of handing over admit cards on the day of commencement of the examination.
The students, with no other alternative left at the moment, appealed the authority concerned and the student organisations to intervene into the matter and save their career.
They are bearing the brunt of the grave mistake committed by the Principal, the students said.
