Tapasika, Henthoiba hit bullseye

G Tapasika Devi and L Henthoiba Singh respectively bagged the girls and boys titles of the Bullseye Archery Challenge competition organised by Manipur Archery Association under the sponsorship of Red Shield Division.
The winners were awarded Rs 1 lakh each after they topped their respective category in the final knock-out round held today at Koirengei Airfield.
Miss G Renuka Sharma and Master M Malemnganba Meitei won the silver medal carrying Rs 30,000 each while Miss SH Manorama Devi and Master Chui Chui won the bronze medal and Rs 10,000 each.
The talent hunt was conceived by the Red Shield Division to give a boost to archery in the state and to motivate the young and spot talent who can pick up the sport and excel at national and international levels, said a PIB (DW) release reminding that the contest started on February 20 with preliminary selection in both the boys and girls categories.
the final rounds consisting of 21 boys and12 girls were held on March 6, 13 and 19, and the list further trimmed to eight boys and same number of girls for a shot at the title.
GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen DS Hooda while congratulating the young archers, hoped that the event has further reinforced their resolve to excel at the sport.
The Manipur Archery Association conveyed their gratitude and appreciation to the GOC for organising the event in a grand manner and motivating the young archer by giving large number of prizes which the Association hoped will be spent to buy the requisite archery equipment.
