Thangminlien Kipgen who is contesting the 17th Lok Sabha election in Outer Manipur PC on National People's Party (NPP) ticket was asked to pull out from the same election.
One NPP leader who is also a Cabinet Minister in the coalition Government led by BJP told The Sangai Express that Thangminlien Kipgen was holding a meeting with key functionaries of the Kuki Students' Organisation at Kuki Inn here today when one PS Haokip came into the room and asked Thangminlien to pull out from the Lok Sabha election.
While PS Haokip was coaxing and exerting pressure on Thangminlien to pull out from the election, security forces arrived at the scene which forced PS Haokip to flee.
PS Haokip is president of the KNA which is under Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact with the Government of India and the State Government, said the Cabinet Minister.
Thangminlien Kipgen said that PS Haokip was called to the meeting venue by supporters of a rival political party.
"PS Haokip asked me to pull out from the Lok Sabha election but I made it clear that I will never pull out", he conveyed.
