Imphal, March 28 2019:
Ex-MP Kim Gangte has resigned from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today, ex MP Kim Gangte said that she had submitted her resignation letter to the president of BJP, State Unit yesterday.
Claiming that some BJP's National leaders advised her to contest for the party in the Assembly election, Kim said that she requested for the party ticket.
She was 'fooled' by the 'verbal assurance given by the party's leaders', Kim said hinting it as the reason for her resignation from the party.
"If the ticket was not given to me on the ground that I haven't done any activity for the party, what work does the Chief Minister of the State did for the BJP before coming to power," she questioned.
Asserting that she joined BJP after its president, vice president and other leaders requested her to join the party at a time when her party Trinamool Congress was concerned only for West Bengal, Kim asserted that 'women in the BJP have no future as the party neither support nor encourage women candidates' .
"I am the living proof of it," said Kim Gangte.
It may be noted that Kim Gangte was first elected as a Member of Parliament on CPI ticket in 1988 .
