Moirang, June 20 2020:
Claiming that majority of job cardholders of Ward no 9 under Moirang CD Block, Bishnupur face difficulties in withdrawing wages from Moirang Primary Co-operative Bank, general secretary and joint secretary of Social Development Committee Kwakta appealed to all concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Kwakta Khuman, Bimol Laishangbam, joint secretary of the committee, said that there are about 18,000 to 20,000 job cardholders in Moirang CD Block which has eight Gram Panchayats.
And of about 2000 job cardholders in Kwakta GP, nearly 1,800 of them have accounts at Moirang Primary Co-operative Bank, he said, claiming that attendance of account holders at the time of withdrawing wages is made compulsory for the mentioned bank.
Stating that other banks have the facility to withdraw money from a Common Service Center through Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS), he alleged that job cardholders are given only 3 days in a week to withdraw money from Moirang Primary Co-Operative Bank.
General secretary of the committee Sakil Ahamad also said that as only 50 to 100 job cardholders can withdraw money in a day, covering all of them would take over a year.
He then appealed to all concerned to chalk out alternative means like sending a bank representative(s) to Kwakta GP and provide withdrawal facility or hand over the task to elected Ward Member or Pradhan at the earliest.
