Imphal, June 20 2020:
"State Government should enforce the Standard Operating Procedure very strictly or else we cannot stop the spread of COVID-19 infection," stated Y Mohen, chairman of Indian Red Cross Society Manipur State Branch, speaking to media persons.
He said today 14 new positive results were reported from Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School.
It may be mentioned here that a few days ago there was an incident of 36 inmates tested positive from the 103 inmates at Diligent Public School quarantine centre, Moirang.
Following which the district administration shifted 67 inmates to Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School.
Today's 14 inmates who tested positive were among these 67 inmates, he said.
He also said that there is a high possibility of the number to increase as there is a report of these inmates having contact with other inmates.
A mother and her two-month-old baby are among these 14 new positive cases, he said.
Saying that there is no specific instruction defined in the SOP when faced with this kind of situation, he appealed to the State Government to enforce a strict SOP at these quarantines centres before it becomes impossible to control the spread.
