Four die in mishaps

Imphal, May 17 2013 :
At least three persons including a police commando and a nurse have been killed while four others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps during the last 48 hours.
A nurse riding a scooter was killed when she was knocked down by a truck near Hotel Imphal along Imphal-Dimapur highway this afternoon.
The deceased identified as Phuritsabam Sobita (35) d/o Subol of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai was working as a staff nurse in City Hospital, informed a police source.
Sobita was riding on the pillion of a Kinetic Honda (MN-01H/0743) which was driven by her brother-in-law Yurthing (younger sister's husband) when they were knocked down by a truck (MN-01/7661) at about 12.30 .
However, Yurthing (30) escaped unhurt.
Even as the truck driver and his assistant fled away, the truck has been seized by police.
A case has also been registered at Imphal police station.
On the other hand, a commando Gypsy which was returning to Wangoi police station after patrolling duty at Uchiwa met with at accident at Mayang Imphal Bengoon at about 11.30 am yesterday.
One commando personnel was killed in the mishap while others sustained injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Rojesh alias Ingocha (25).He succumbed to injuries at RIMS last afternoon.
In another incident, an individual travelling in a car was killed when a passenger bus and an Alto car collided head on at Wangjing Bazar, Heirok Lamkhai at about 1 pm yesterday.
The driver of the car escaped with some injuries.
The deceased victim was one DS Medun Maring (30) of Phulchong village.
The injured driver has been identified as Konthoujam Amarjit (26) of Uripok Khumanthem Leikai.
The bus was heading for Kakching while the car was travelling in the opposite direction.
