The World Food Day was observed today at Food Processing Training Hall, Porompat under the aegis of Director of Commerce and Industries, Govt of Manipur.
A workshop on National mission on food processing : A mission to feed the people was also held as part of the observance programme.
Director of Commerce and Industries, John B Tlangtinkhuma attending the programme as the chief guest stressed on the importance of food processing.
He urged food producers to regularly attend seasonal training programme.
Also urging the farmers not to waste seasonal produces, John assured assistance to the farmers from the department concerned.
Director of Fisheries, K Sarat; Retd APO of Commerce and Industries, O Dhaneshwar and former Director of Song & Drama Div, MI&B, N Nabachandra Singh attended the programme as the president and guests of honour respectively.
Meanwhile, as part of 'World Food Day' observance, 40 Assam Rifles of 9 sector AR under the aegis of Hq IGAR (South) served mid-day meal to around 120 students of Keirao Public School today, according to a press release issued by PRO hqtrs IGAR (South) .
The effort was well appreciated by the Principal, teachers and other civil dignitaries present at the occasion.
It was a befitting example of civil military cooperation.
At the occasion, Canchipur Post Commander mentioned that such efforts will go a long way in building a friendly relationship between the security forces and local populace ushering in an era of lasting peace, it added.
