UBI Moirang branch ceases transactions

Following reported threats on the life of United Bank of India (UBI), Moirang branch manager, in connection with monetary demand, the bank has ceased all transactions.
Irked by suspension of transactions, vendors, shopkeepers and pensioners of Moirang area today staged a protest demonstration after shutting down Moirang market in denunciation of the monetary demand and the accompanying threats.
The protesters put up placards which read as "Growth of UBI Moirang branch is in the interest of people", "Let's live together in peace", "Let's introspect", "Delaying the pace of development would cost dear in future" etc.
The protesters also shouted slogans against the culture of serving monetary demands.

One elderly person who took part in the protest demonstration said that UBI Moirang branch have been helping many vendors and shopkeepers by extending loan facilities.
UBI Moirang branch is serving not only Moirang sub-division.
It also covers certain areas of Churachandpur district.
A number of elderly and retired employees have also been drawing their pensions from the same bank.
In spite of all the benefits and advantages brought by the bank, the manager is unable to sit and work in his office because of repeated threats from some quarters in connection with monetary demand.
With the manager staying away from his office, the bank remains closed most of the time.
Even if the bank is opened, no transaction takes place as the manager is not present.
The elderly man also appealed to all concerned to make the bank a free zone in view of the immense benefits it is providing to all sections of the society.
