Mao flower fest to showcase natural spring beauties

Gearing up for the three days mega 2nd Flower Festival 2016 to be held at Pfukhro, Mao gate, the Senapati district administration and Mao Flower Growers' Association have beefed up its efforts to showcase the best of natural spring beauties with different unique features on the card.
From creation of a natural realistic festival site at Pfukhro to beautifying the whole area with flowers, the organizers who are well assisted by Song Song villagers have been working day and night to shower treats on participants and guests with well-crafted stage and scenic view of the Nagaland-Manipur border and mountains.
The flower festival media partners are ISTV, The Sangai Express, Innovative Media Stop and Hornbill Express.
Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus along with CoHSEM Chairman C Arthur W, SP K Kabib, Addl DC Pawan Yadav, Mao and Tadubi SDOs, village leaders visited the site where the Governor of Manipur V Shanmuganathan and Chief Secretary O Nabakishore will grace the occasion as chief guest and guest of honor on April 9 .
The visiting team also interacted with Song Song village leaders who are working full time to organize the mega event in its 2nd edition after the huge success last year.
From 52 flower growers last year it has doubled this year and the location is spectacular with blooming trees which offer a scenic view, informed an organizer.
Expressing satisfaction with the preparation, the DC also discussed traffic management issues with the SP and local leaders.
Mao and Tadubi SDOs along with Senapati police were also briefed about the high profile visit and expected public turn out.
The flower festival will conclude on April 11 with more than 100 flower growers registered.
It is organized in collaboration with Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Department of Commerce and Industries and supported by Institute of Bio-Resources & Sustainable Development, Imphal (IBSD) .
According to the organizers, the site of the flower show will feature locally grown flowers, wild flowers, local cuisine restaurants, 100 plus stalls, handlooms and others.
Flower growers from different places like Ukhrul, Imphal, Kohima and Senapati DHQs are expected to take part.
The Governor and CS before arriving at the festival site will also unveil a flower festival monolith at the iconic Mao Island and proceed to Pfukro.
