Imphal, October 23:
The long forsaken stretch connecting the State with Mizoram has drawn the ire of the community here with the Zomi Students Federation reminding the Government of its appeal to hand over the construction work to the Border Road Organisation.
Recalling the Cabinet decision of Nov 2, last year, the ZSF said, it will halt all the ongoing construction work of Lamka-Singngat-Sinzawl-Tuivai Road if the Govet fails to implement the decision latest by Nov 4 this year.
The State Cabinet had on this date decided that construction work on the said stretch will be handed over to the BRO.
Meanwhile, the CCpur Students Union has also declared that all student bodies based in the district will undertake an inspection tour on the ongoing construction of the said stretch via Behiang.
The tour to be conducted in the company of the local MLA on Oct 25 and 26 , 2007 will in addition, check if the Govt programmes and schemes in the area were also implemented accordingly.
A huge sum of Rs 1 crore was sanctioned for the construction of the road stretch but there are apprehensions that it may have been misappropriated.
