Taking a grim note of the recent spurt in killing across the State during the last few days, Governor Dr SS Sidhu today met Chief Minister O Ibobi, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh, DGP Y Joykumar and Principal Secretary BPO Warjri to discuss the escalating violence and the steps taken up by the State Government.
Though no details of the meeting are available, a reliable source however informed The Sangai Express that the Governor has taken a serious note of the recent spurt in violence during the last few days and sought an updated report from the State Government.
The meeting began at 11 am.
Significantly at least two persons have been shot dead in different parts of the State during the last few days and no worthwhile arrest have been effected in conn ection with any of the case.
The abduction of the three Engineers of the PHED by the Kuki Revolutionary Army, ostensibly for ransom, was also discussed during the meeting, said the source.
The Government had already discussed the abduction of the three Engineers during a meeting convened by the Chief Minister some time back.
The details of the meeting were however not disclosed to the public.
Today's meeting at the Raj Bhawan came called in the backdrop of the recent spate of killings in different parts of the State with the latest killing reported from Heirok wherein a youth was shot dead while he was fast asleep inside his house last night.
Incensed with the killing the people of Heirok have formed a JAC and come out with a charter of demands.
