Art has no boundaries, says Guru Mashangva

Art has no boundaries and it is one of the best ways to bring one another closer by respecting and honouring different artists of the State by all section of the society stated Guru Rewben Mashangva, dubbed as the king of Naga Folk blues in a press briefing here today at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
Expressing regret for not attending the State's largest tourism festival, the Manipur Sangai Festival this year, he stated that all the civil society organizations concerned of the State should not hinder or stop artists in showcasing their talents and art work at any place or at any point of time as without art there is no idealism.
Not only art has boundaries but it also sports has no boundaries, he added.
Guru Rewben said "A prior engagement with the Rattle and Hum Music Society to represent the State and the country for the 'India China Handshake Concert, 2015' at the historic Kunming Theatre, Kunming City, Yunnan Province of China on November 27 made me skip the Sangai Festival" .
He further said that the functionaries of the State Government should provide the necessary support by increasing their incentives and so on, to various artists who are performing at the Sangai Festival.
Over 19 artists from India, including Himanshu Balkrishnan Mohan (tabla) and Guru Rewben Mashangva, performed at the India China Handshake Concert 2015.Grammy award winner Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt performed live along with three groups from China.
Tetseo Sisters, Purple Fusion and a choir band from Dimapur were the other artists who represented the country, he added.
The Handshake concert aspires to bring the world closer and aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the country on the international platform through music, dance and performing arts.
The event is meant to create better international understanding and respect for each other's culture and the goal is to bring different genres of music, including western, classical, pop, rock, folk and fusion, on one stage, he added.
