Workshop on Sangai conservation begins

In a move to develop a conservation strategy for Eld's deer popularly known as Sangai, the first ever 3-day International workshop on Eld's deer conservation was inaugurated with a colourful cultural show and exhibition of local products at the picturesque Keibul Lamjao village, about 50 km south of Imphal in Bishnupur district on Thursday.
Planning and Development Authority Chairman Tong bram Mangibabu who is also the local MLA was the chief guest of the inaugural function while Principal Chief Conservator of Forest PN Prasad, State Chief Wildlife Warden Kereilhouvi Angami and State Information Commissioner Th Ibobi were the guests of honour and functional president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA Mangibabu expressed the need to bring out an income generated project for the local populace in order to have a sustainable livelihood in and around the Keibul Lamjao National Park (KLNP) .
