Imphal, November 24 2016:
Both IPSA and ACOAM-Lup have come out strongly against a hitherto unknown address given to Palace Gate and surrounding areas as printed in the invitation card of the 5th International Tourism Mart for the North East Region 2016 which opened today at the City Convention Centre, Palace Gate.
The address of the City Convention Centre as printed in the invitation card is 'Palace Gate, Home Church Lane, Sanjenthong, Imphal, Manipur' .
Speaking to media persons today, International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) president Chingkhei Luwangcha said that befitting action should be initiated against those officials responsible for printing the erroneous address on the invitation card.
The hitherto unknown address undermines the royal palace which is the most important landmark of the area.
Chief Minister O Ibobi would have certainly seen the invitation card and he ought to come out with a clarification regarding the faux pas.
IPSA would enquire into the matter and befitting action would be initiated against those people responsible for naming the area 'Home Church Lane', Chingkhei said.
Meanwhile, ACOAM-Lup working president Chandramani Khumancha expressed astonishment over re-naming Palace Compound as Home Church Lane in the invitation card of a function of which the Chief Minister would be the chief guest.
He went on to ask whether the State Cabinet has adopted any resolution to this effect.
Officials of Tourism Department who were responsible for printing the invitation card should be penalised and the Chief Minister should come out with a clarification by November 25, Chandramani said.
