Senapati, November 24 2016:
United Naga Council (UNC) Gaidon Kamei has directed the Nagas not to harm non locals in Naga areas.
Gaidon Kamei said that such directive has become a matter of urgency as Nagas have been provoked from certain quarters in the valley districts and that there can be reactions in the Naga areas.
"We are not against any community," said Gaidon Kamei while adding, "Ours is a movement to defend our land and we are demanding from the Government for a concrete assurance on the Sadar Hills and the Jiribam district creation issue" .
The UNC president further said, "Our appeal to not harm the non-locals in Naga areas should not be interpreted as weakness" .
The UNC president also expressed anger over the alleged poor handling of the situation by the Central Government.
"The Government of India should not remain a fence sitter when a volatile situation like this prevails," he stated.
UNC then alleged that IRB personnel and commandos have harassed villagers at Sibilong and Nungba Headquarters today after blockade supporters torched a truck.
