Imphal, November 24 2016:
The All Manipur SK Oil Dealers Association has accused the CAF&PD Department of deliberately working to deny beneficiaries their due share of subsidised SK Oil.
Speaking to media persons at Porompat today, All Manipur SK Oil Dealers Association spokesman Hijam Romesh alleged that the CAF&PD Department's attempt to deny beneficiaries their share of SK Oil have all the potential to project SK Oil dealers in wrong light which may result in untoward incidents.
The Government of India allotted 3348 Kls of SK Oil to the State for the third quarter (October to December) of the current financial year which means only two litres would be available to each beneficiary.
Nonetheless, 256 Kls have been set aside for Government pool.
After due revision, the relevant Central Ministry increased the State quota of SK Oil for the third quarter to 5100 KLs.
A written intimation was sent to the State Government to this effect on November 7 .
Subsequently, the association submitted an application to the CAF&PD Department on November 21 to make due SK Oil allocations.
In response, CAF&PD Special Secretary issued a memorandum on November 22 which allocated 584 Kls of SK Oil to only two dealers for one month.
The memorandum specified that the 584 Kls of SK Oil was meant for students staying in hostels/rented rooms, patients undergoing treatment in hospitals, daily wage earners and transporters stranded on account of the economic blockade, Romesh said.
The memorandum of November 22 should be cancelled else the association would be compelled to prohibit lifting of SK Oil, Romesh said.
