Maj Pagin Meritorious Award presented

Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga has presented Maj Pagin Kipgen Meritorious Award to 10 best performers in the HSLC exam 2014 within Sadar Hills today during a ceremony held at Emanuel Hr Sec School Hall, Haipi village in Sadar Hills.
The award function was organised by the Maj Pagin Kipgen Foundation, a charitable trust.
The 16th Maj Pagin Kipgen Meritorious Award 2014 distribution function was also attended by Christopher Doungel, IPS, IGP (Adm.), as the guest of honour; Dr Indira Kumar, Specialist Gynaecologists, JNIMS, Porompat Imphal and Kaipu Kipgen, Addl Director (Horticulture), as the functional presidents.
To encourage students in their endeavour, the late Maj Pagin Kipgen had instituted the award in 1993 and presented the award to meritorious students who secured first division in HSLC exams in Haipi village.
The award was extended to the whole of Kangpokpi from 1999.The Major Pagin Kipgen Foundation later extended the award to the whole of Sadar Hills from 2005 .
So far, 367 students have been conferred the meritorious award.
The 16th Maj Pagin Kipgen Meritorious Award 2014 awardees are Elizabeth of Ideal High School, Charhajare, Ngamgoumang Khongsai of Kangpokpi Mission High School, Paogoumang Mangjel of Songpao Lhinghat Memorial High School, Abhishek Gupta of Apex Christian School, Motbung, Lhingchoihoi Kipgen of Diamond Eng H/S, Pukhrambam Linthoinganbi Devi of Motbung H/S, Thatminhao Khongsai of Kangpokpi Mission H/S, Vahneilam Kipgen of Ideal Eng H/S, Charhajare, Hentinsei Kipgen of Diamond Eng H/S, Thanglenngam Khongsai of Motbung High School, Lhingngaikim Guite of Diamond Eng H/S, D Kenny Haokip of Songpao Lhinghat Memorial H/S, SK Henminthang of Motbung High School, Paotinmang Lhouvum of Motbung High School and Lamtinlun Lhouvum of Apex Christian H/S.The award was also presented to three State level subject toppers namely Ngamgoumang Khongsai of Kangpokpi Mission High School securing 99 pc in Thadou-Kuki; Shakuntala Tamang of Emmanuel Hr Sec School, Haipi securing 94 pc in Nepali and Paominthang Vaiphei of John Calvin, Leimakhong securing 88 pc in Vaiphei.
A one-minute silence was observed in honour of the Late Maj Pagin Kipgen.
The blessing prayer was said by Rev Dr Letthang Haokip, Vice Principal, Manipur Theological College, Kangpokpi and dedication of alter offering was done by Thangi, mother of Late Maj Pagin Kipgen.
Addl SP Kangpokpi Md Zakirruddin; SDC Kangpokpi Kaigoulal Kipgen; CSOs leaders, village chiefs, school principals, Church leaders, students and teachers from various educational institutions also attended the function.
