Imphal, May 24 2014 :
The underground group Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) on Saturday blamed its counterpart United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) for the derailment caused to the establishment of 'Semol designated camp' under Khengjoy subdivision of Chandel district.
UKLF has threatened and instigated KANA and Gunpi Area Chiefs Association to say 'no' to Semon designated camp, KNLF secretary Tonglenlal Haokip alias Lalmoi told newsmen somewhere in Chandel district today.
On August 30, 2013, KNLF was recognized by Government of India as the 15th armed wing of Kuki National Organisation (KNO), a signatory to suspension of operation (SoO) agreement involving Manipur and Central Governments, he said.
KNLF laid down arms and entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Manipur and Central Governments on September 9 last year.
On May 3 last, Manipur Government's Additional Secretary (Home) Dr Suresh Babu dispatched an official statement to the outfit intimating approval of setting up its designated camp at Semol, Tonglenlal stated.
Subsequently, 40 cadres of the outfit were shifted to the Semol camp from the 9-Assam Rifles camp located at Moreh where they were lodging before, he said.
He warned KANA and Gunpi Kuki chiefs not to derail the development process of the designated camp, saying the above groups have nothing to do with the village of Semol because they (KANA and Gunpi Kuki chiefs) belonged to Chakpikarong subdivision while Semol is situated under Khengjoy.
"We know that UKLF convened a joint meeting of Gunpi Area Kuki Chiefs Association, United Zou Organisation and Kuki Women's for Human Rights on May 22.At the meeting, the outfit threatened the representatives of these social organizations to stage protest against setting up of the designated camp," Tonglenlal said.
UKLF even threatened the Kuki chiefs that it would imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each if they failed to attend the meeting, he added.
