COVID-19 vaccination drive organised at Apfii Saliki

Senapati, April 24 2021:
As a preventive and precautionary measure against the spread of the second wave of COVID-19 in the district, the District Health Society in collaboration with the District Administration, Senapati organised a COVID-19 vaccination drive for all shopkeepers, auto drivers, taxi drivers and vendors of 45 years and above age group at Apfii Saliki (Ima Market) from 10.30 am to 3pm today.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Pfokreho Pfoze, CMO, Senapati stated that the vaccination drive was conducted to facilitate the beneficiaries at door step near the main bazar.
Preparation of all facilities including the waiting room, registration room, vaccination room and observation room were also made at the venue.
2 vaccination teams comprising of PHC Oinam and PHC Maram took part in the drive.
The District Medical Department also prepared separate observation room for anyone with adverse effect post vaccination including a physician, oxygen and mask, immunization (AEFI) kits and beds.
In case of severe effect, an ambulance was arranged to transfer the patient to District Hospital Senapati, he added.
The CMO Senapati further mentioned that the programme was conducted in view of the people who interact with different people and lauded the people of the district for participating in the vaccination drive.
Dr Mushtaq, Physician, District Hospital Senapati in his statement asserted that all necessary preparations were made to look after the patients with adverse affect or with the need of special treatment.
He mentioned that the COVID-19 vaccination is safe and urged the people to get vaccinated.
If any beneficiary develops any symptom which requires intervention, a bed has been prepared along with preventive injections and oxygen.
Ambulance to transfer the patient to the hospital in emergency Case has also been prepared, he added.
Th Kirankumar, IAS, DC Senapati mentioned that the drive was organised near the main bazaar to ensure that everyone could be vaccinated easily.
People of 45 years and above were vaccinated today and the next vaccination drive would target all those who interact with other people frequently like Hotels, Petrol Pumps, etc as they are prone to spread the virus once they are infected, he added.
Th Kirankumar also expressed his appreciation to the doctors and staff of Medical department for their invaluable sacrifice in the service of mankind and mentioned that similar vaccination programme would be conducted soon for the age group below 45 years.
Besides, speaking on the sidelines of the screening point at Entry Point, Mao Gate, DC Th Kirankumar stated that anyone entering the State would be required to bring negative results of COVID-19 and only emergency cases like the sick and their wards/family members were tested before entry.
66 beneficiaries were vaccinated today and no serious adverse effect following immunization was reported.
