UG cadres arrested; arms amos recovered

Imphal, October 16 2014:
A combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 30 AR arrested an active cadre of PREPAK from his residence on October 13 .
Identifying the arrested man as Ningthoujam Saratchandra Singh alias Ibungo (31) s/o N Shamu Singh of Sekta Mayai Leikai, a statement issued by the PRO of police dept said he was involved in money extortion from the general public, private and Govt offices and in transportation of arms and ammunition of the outfit.
In another incident, a team of Imphal East district police commandos arrested two active members of Hmar People Convention (Democratic).
They were identified as S/S sergeant Lalsangzuol Zoute alias Zuola (34) s/o Lalla Zoute of Saikot Lailak village, Churachandpur district and S/S Sgt Major Lalsangkung Hmar alias Kunga (27) s/o Ramhmangei of Chinglangmei village, from Langol game village, Zone-II football ground on October 15 .
One 9 mm pistol along with 10 live rounds and incriminating articles were seized from their possession, the police PRO's release said.
Further, from the disclosure and revelation of the arrested persons, another cadre of Hmar People Convention (Democratic) identified as S/S Corporal Laltlankung Hmar alias Pute (26) s/o Pana Hmar of Mauchar village, NC Hills, Assam was arrested from Khomoi bazar, Churachandpur district on the same day.
Investigation revealed that they extorted a huge amount of money from village chiefs, Kuki people settled in Imphal area and transportation of arms and ammunition of Hmar People Convention (Democratic) .
A case has been registered at Lamphel PS and investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, acting on an information about the presence of suspected PREPAK cadres, a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and 22 Assam Rifles conducted a search operation in and around Yangdong Salam Pumlempat on Oct 15 .
The UGs, on seeing the approaching security forces escaped towards the northern side of Phumlenpat leaving behind their arms and ammunition.
The team recovered two 9mm pistols, one 7.65 pistol, one single bore rifle, nine detonators and eight 125gms PEK (explosive).
A case has been registered at Waikhong PS .
