Sit-in held against abduction of BJP worker's wife

Womenfolk of 9-Purum DCC staged a sit in protest at a waiting shed along Pallel-Chandel road near Sektaikarong village in Chandel district today against the reported abduction of Temoishim w/o Angdun, a BJP worker.
Placards inscribed with slogans like 'Abduction of BJP Worker is a cowardly act,' 'We demand action against the abductors,' 'We demand women's safety in the district,' 'We demand free and fair election,' etc were displayed by the protesters.
Narrating the incident, M Temoishim told media persons today that some unknown miscreants came to their village yesterday and called her out from the Church.
They enquired about her husband whereabouts.
And she went back to attend the Church service after telling them that she had no knowledge about the whereabouts of her husband at that time.

After the Church service, the miscreants waylaid and took her near a vehicle and forced her to board the vehicle in which the village chief was also already inside the vehicle with some other unknown persons, she narrated.
However, the unknown miscreants freed her near Komlathabi village around 8 pm last night, she said.
A protester, Kim, a resident of Sektaikarong said that they strongly condemned the abduction of Temoishim while pointing out that such instance was not the first of its kind in the district.
She pointed out that the wife of a BJP candidate in the district was abducted recently, Kim added.
Demanding the authority concerned to nab and book those involved in the abduction, Kim also warned of launching intense forms of agitation if such prejudicial activities against innocent women recur in future.
