As a step to attract tourists, Hotel Imphal located at North AOC will be upgraded to the status of a four star hotel within a short period, disclosed Tourism Minister Govindas Konthoujam.
Talking to media-persons today, Govindas informed that a project report mentioning the total amount (Rs 16.65 crores) required for upgrading the hotel have already been sent to the Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India for its approval and added that a proposal for setting up tourist guides have also been included in the report to provide job avenues to the unemployed youth of the State.
Informing that the construction works of the hotel would be taken up by the National Building Construction Corporation, Minister Govindas said that the State Government has also asked the Ministry of Tourism Government of India to release the fund for the construction directly to the Corporation authorities without involving the State Government.
He also said that the Government will also be taking up programmes for upgrading the Sendra Tourist Home to a Tourist Complex within a short period.
