A team of Imphal West Dist commandos led by its Addl SP Th Radheshyam arrested three motor cycle lifters from different parts of the State today and recovered three stolen motorcycles, said police.
On receiving a report that one motor cycle (Bajaj Pulsar) had been stolen from Pishumthong area today, commandos of the Imphal West Dist swung into action and stepped up frisking in and around Imphal areas in it bid to recover the stolen bike.
At around 5 pm, the Addl SP's team arrested a youth who came on a motorcycle (Pulsar MM-1M/3029) from near Narankonjin Mayai Leikai.
During verification the motorcycle was found to be the same motorcycle stolen from Pishumthong earlier in the afternoon.
The arrested youth has been identified as one Md Abdul Wahid alias Lara (18) s/o Md Itonbi of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai.
Based on information provided by Abdul during interrogation, two other motorcycle lifters identified as Md Hamid alias Ithem (21) s/o Md Samad of Lilong Turen Ahanbi Upakthong Makha Leikai and Md Rafi (23) s/o Md Junab Ali of Thoubal Keibung were also arrested from their houses.
One numberless Hero Honda Passion and one Yamaha RX-100 bearing regd No MN-04/5046 were also recovered from them.
Meanwhile, Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal has today remanded the three persons arrested on the charges of lifting motorcycles to police custody till September 22.Police arrested Md Majibur Rahman alias Raju of Hiyangthang Khul, Md Abdul Majid (40) of Irong Mamang Leikai and Md Faridul Haque (43) of Kshetrigao along with the stolen motorcycle (Bajaj Pulsar) on September 11.
