The 55th Fire Walk ing Festival which is being held in the border town of Moreh entered the 10th day on Friday.
The day's event was marked by walking over burning charcoal by religious people.
Fire Walking Festival is common in southern states of India particularly Tamil Nadu but the festival is being celebrated in Moreh town since 1967 .
Initially, the Tamil community settled in Moreh celebrated the festival alone but other communities settling in the border town like Meitei, Bibari, Marwali, Odia (Oriya), Myanmarese and Nepali are joining the festival nowadays.
Arguably, the Fire Walking Festival in Moreh is the only such festival in the North East and could be the only one in India to be participated by different communities.
On the tenth day of the festival on Friday, several religious people rallied in Moreh town with iron pins pierced on their bodies before walking on the 10 feet long pit of burning charcoal prepared at Sunrise Club playground.
