Rescued, KCP (MTF) abductors killed

Imphal, October 06 2010: Along with rescuing the younger brother of an Up-Pradhan who was abducted by suspected armed cadres of the proscribed KCP-MTF, Bishnupur District Police Commandos, in a clinically executed operation, have killed four of the abductors.

Informing this during a press conference at the Bishnupur District Police Headquarters today, Additional SP (Ops) of the district Ishak Shah, said while the abduction of a lady doctor and her staff nurse as well as other Government officials are still fresh in the minds of the people, 26-year old RK Sanayaima, the younger brother of Up-Pradhan of Ishak Gram Panchayat, RK Opendro (31) were abducted by some armed men last night.

The lady doctor and her staff nurse were abducted last month and rescued later.

On receiving the report, a team of police commandos led by himself responded immediately and launched a massive search operation at various places like Naorem, Oinam Mamang Pat and Yumnam Khunou Mamang Pat.

At around 10 pm, the police commandos were fired upon by unidentified armed persons near Yumnam Khunou Mamang Pat Mutum Yangbi.

The police commandos retaliated and the exchange of heavy firing from both sides lasted for around half an hour.

After the firing ceased, further search of the area led to the recovery of four bodies of suspected UGs near a tin-roofed Loutangshang.

Not far from the spot, Sanayaima was found hiding among the Phumdis.

One lethod gun, one lethod bomb, two 9 mm pistols, two magazines loaded with nine bullets, one Chinese hand grenade and one mobile handset (Nokia) with SIM card were recovered from the site of the incident.

Nambol police have registered a case in connection with the incident and further investigation is on.

Rescued Sanayaima who was also present during the press conference recalled that two unidentified armed persons came to his house at around 9 pm and abducted him at gun point.

When they reached the gate of the house, two more armed persons were there.

After taken to a marshy area which is located around 3 kms from his home and held him captive in a Loutangshang there.

The abductors, however, did not beat or torture him.

When he demanded to know why he was being abducted and which group was behind it, the abductors did not identify the group but simply said that his brother was very arrogant.

Meanwhile, though the identity of the four slain armed abductors have not yet been established officially , two of them are suspected to be Ningthoujam Manao (40) s/o late Toto of Toubul Awang Leikai and Angom Premananda alias Naocha (25) s/o RK ,of the same locality.

The bodies are still laying at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
