Drawing the attention of the State Government to the deplorable condition of the bridge over Khujairok river running in between Moreh Ward no.7 and 5, Meitei Council, Moreh (MCM) has appealed to the Government for construction of a new bridge at the earliest possible.
According to MCM president N Pulindro, the bridge was first constructed by a Tamilian widow in 1980 meeting the cost from her own pocket and has been serving as an important connecting route for the people of the surrounding area like S Moljol village, Chavangphai, Canan Veng, Shanti Nagar Leikai, Chingdong Leikai, Heinou Makhong Leikai, Turel Wangma Meitei Leikai, Muslim Basti, Ward no.5 Basti, Ward no, 6 and neighbouring Myanmarese villages.
But the condition of the bridge has become so bad that one student broke his leg when he was stuck while coming to attend school recently, Pulindro said.
