The matter of building Anganwadi centres was also discussed in the Manipur State Assembly in the past.
There were complaints from many Anganwadi workers that they were denied entry to their own Anganwadi centres because these centres were opened at private places, Biren said.
He sought cooperation from the public while noting that Anganwadi centres should be built at appropriate places by consulting all stake holders.
Biren then urged all Government functionaries in the State to be honest and sincere while executing their responsibilities and duties in order to bring transparency and accountability in the affairs of the Government.
He said that many affairs of the State Government are being hampered due to pending cases and litigations at Court about alleged incongruity in the working process of various Government departments and agencies.
Reminding that the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved introduction of the Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Bill, 2019 in the Parliament, he claimed that labourers will get immense benefits from the Bill as it contains various guidelines and rules for maintaining a healthy and conducive environment for labourers working in companies and firms, including health aspects and security.
He also informed that Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board has been formed by the incumbent Government and many activities and programmes for the welfare of labourers have been taken up by the board, including distribution of labour cards to deserving labourers.
He also lauded that BMS, Manipur State has been carrying out many activities for the welfare of labourers and farmers while informing that BMS is the largest trade organization in Asia.
Delivering presidential speech at the function, BMS, Manipur State president Marem Kapisui traced the history of the organization and said that it was founded by Dattopant Thengadi on July 23, 1955 at Bhopal.
He said that Dattopant Thengadi founded BMS with the main objective for building a strong podium for farmers and labourers, irrespective of the differences of caste, creed and religion.
Further stating that BMS, Manipur State was established in 1997, he claimed that the State Unit has been working for the welfare of the labourers and farmers since its inception.
BMS, zonal organizing secretary (North East) Sunil Kirwai and Dattopant Thangadi National Board for Worker's Education and Development chairman RAC and BMS North East in Charge N Tomba Singh also attended the function as guests of honour.
