Combined team arrest UG cadres

A combined team of Imphal East district police and column of 30 Assam Rifle and 16 Assam Rifle arrested one active member of UNLF from Irilbung Bazar and an active cadre of KCP (valley operation commander group) along with point 22 pistol from Top Khongnangkhong, today According to police, the combined team under the command of Roni Mayengbam Additional SP Operation Imphal East as a part of the security measures for the upcoming WIP visit in the State conducted a search operation at Irilbung Thongkhong and its surrounding areas.
During the operation, one active member of UNLF identified as Md Abdul Rafique @ Sajid @ Sadam (36) S/o late Md Junab Ali of Urup Makha Leikai, Imphal-East District was arrested.
The UNLF cadre revealed that he joined the outfit through one Ingba of UNLF in 2000 and got his basic military training for 45 days at Sajik Tampak, Chandel district.
He was handed over to Irilbung Police Station.
The same team carried out a search operation at Top Khongnangkhong at around 2.40 pm.
During the operation, one person who was found moving suspiciously was detained for verification by the team.
From him, a point 22 pistol along with a magazine loaded with four live rounds was seized.
He was arrested on the spot by observing necessary formalities.
The arrested person has been identified as Sougrakpam Nelson Singh @ Bhaimacha @ Sushil Meitei @ Pari Meitei @ Apabi (38), S/o late S Parijat Singh of Keishampat Jailor Leirak, Konjeng Hajari Leikai.
He further revealed that he joined the outfit in 2009 through one Chaklamba @ Korou of KCP - (VOC) and presently working under his command.
The arrested person along with the seized pistol was handed over to Porompat Police Station.
On the other hand, another active insurgent of proscribed group UNLF was arrested from Langthabal, yesterday.
According to IGAR (S), the arrested cadre has been identified as Saikhom Anil Meitei @ Anouba, a resident of Heirok, Thoubal and Myanmar Kyat 30,800 was recovered from him.
The insurgent along with the currency has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
